Thrive Tribe 419 podcast interview in August 2017

My favorite website resources

Podcasts, books, personalities - everyone I dig in the real food movement

Rich Roll - ultra-athlete & plant-based eating advocate. His podcasts have been the most pivotal and life-changing for me in my health journey. They spurred me on and became my community of health-minded people when I didn't have anyone else around who cared. My favorite podcasts are listed below.

#149 and #166   - James Lawrence - 50 Ironmans. 50 Days. 50 States: The Iron Cowboy’s Assault on Impossible — Musings on Limits, Conviction, Family & Service ; Listen to both podcasts- before his race and after he finishes!

#170 - Conrad Anker - Climber Conrad Anker on Suffering, Risk, Reward & The Allure of Meru

#175 - Adam Sud - How Adam Sud Lost 100 Pounds, Kicked Adderall, Reversed His Diabetes & Found A Life

#177 - Kevin Breel - Kevin Breel’s Confessions of a Depressed Comic — And What Happens When Your TED Talk Goes Supernova

#192 - Robynne Chutkan, MD - Live Dirty, Eat Clean: Robynne Chutkan, MD on Everything Microbiome-- Excellent podcast!

#206 - Khalil Rafati: From Homeless Junkie to Wellness Entrepreneur

Wellness Mama- one of the biggest bloggers in wellness and natural DIY recipes. She is my go-to if I need to make any homemade body products or cleaners.

Whole30 - an elimination diet that focuses on taking out any inflammatory foods for 30 days to heal & reset the body. You then reintroduce foods one at a time to see what effects they have on you, and voila, you have a customized way of eating just for you. I really dig their standards and community of support. There's a Defiance Whole30 support group and a national support group.

Weston A. Price Foundation / Nourishing Traditions - this non-profit believes in wise traditions in food, farming, and the healing arts. I am frequently searching topics on their website to find ancient healing methods and advice for illness or health issues.

Gut Bliss  (Dr. Robynne Chutkan's website) - a leading gastroenterologist, bestselling author, and founder of The Digestive Center for Women, we provide you with the tools and support you need to achieve gut bliss.

Robyn O Brien  - She's the financial/business-savvy woman of the foodie bunch and she's frequently commenting on the market and what companies are doing in the real food sector. Robyn is a big activist for allergies and holding companies accountable.

Bulletproof - My husband introduced me to this brand and he really enjoys their podcast that typically goes into the science behind real food and total body wellness. I listened to an episode on GMOs that was very interesting:

Don Huber podcast episode on Bulletproof: This "Why We Need To KO the GMO" episode was very informative by an expert in plant disease

Polyface Farm - A West Virginia based grassfed farm that has gained national notoriety for their farming practices and principles, in large part due to their founder, Joel Salatin, appearing in some big screen documentaries. Their mission is to: "develop emotionally, economically, environmentally enhancing agricultural enterprises and facilitate their duplication throughout the world."

The Gut and Psychology Syndrome Diet -  This was developed by an M.D. to address her daughter's learning disabilities. Dr. Natasha Campbell-McBride holds a degree in Medicine and Postgraduate degrees in both Neurology and Human Nutrition.  In her clinic in Cambridge she specializes in nutrition for children and adults with behavioral and learning disabilities, and adults with digestive and immune system disorders.
Dr. Campbell-McBride set up The Cambridge Nutrition Clinic in 1998.  As a parent of a child diagnosed with learning disabilities, she was acutely aware of the difficulties facing other parents like her, and she has devoted much of her time to helping these families.  She realized that nutrition played a critical role in helping children and adults to overcome their disabilities, and has pioneered the use of probiotics in this field.

100 days of real food - Their website says: We invite you to read along and hopefully join in as our family seeks out the real food in a processed food world. Our hope is since our family (that does not live on a farm, has two young children, and a husband that travels frequently) went 100 days without eating a single ounce of processed food or refined ingredients that you will consider taking our 10 Days of Real Food pledge.

Angela Liddon, creator of Oh She Glows

Oh She Glows - awesome plant-based recipes that really propelled my health journey and cooking skillz. My favorite recipes for people new to plant-based eating are:

Vegan Enchiladas with Cilantro Avocado Cream Sauce - Stuffed with black beans and sweet potatoes and topped with an amazing sauce

Cumin Lime Black Bean Quinoa Salad - The zesty dressing with lime juice and colorful appearance make this more than appealing
